THE BEAST AND THE BURDEN
(MARK)

THE BEAST AND THE BURDEN WERE IN THE FIELD SEARCHING THEIR SOULS
EACH OF THEM CERTAIN, THE OTHER WAS HURTING THEIR GOALS
SAID THE BEAST TO THE YOLK, "YOU ARE MAKING ME CHOKE AND I'M TIRED,
OF PULLING THE GRIND OF THE BURDEN BEHIND IN WHICH I'M MIRED."

I WISH I COULD RUN AWAY

THE BURDEN TURNED RED AS HE LOOKED UP AHEAD AT THE BEAST
HE SAID, "WITHOUT ME YOU'RE WORTHLESS,
AND WOULD SERVE NO GOOD PURPOSE BUT FEAST."
SAID THE BURDEN TO THE CHAINS, "GOD I PRAY FOR THE RAINS,
TO RUST ME AWAY FROM THE BEAST.
HE COULD LEAVE ME BEHIND, I COULD HAVE MY OWN MIND,
AND THE HELL THAT I LIVE IN WOULD CEASE."

I WISH I COULD RUN AWAY

ONE DAY THE BEAST WOKE TO FIND THE CHAINS AND THE YOLK GONE AWAY.
FOR THE BEAST HAD GROWN OLD AND COULD NO LONGER PULL BURDEN'S WEIGHT.
THE RAINS HAD COME DOWN, ATE THE CHAINS TO THE GROUND,
AND THE BURDEN LIE BROKE IN A PILE.
BUT THE BEAST COULD NOT RUN, FOR HIS OWN TIME WAS DONE,
SO HE LAID BY THE BURDEN AND HE SMILED.

NOW THEY WILL FLY AWAY

I AM THE BEAST
I AM THE BURDEN
